Camping gear maker, Darche, revealed yesterday a new ‘270° addition to their Eclipse range of vehicle awnings.
Unlike other similar products which fold out from a single axis at the rear, the Eclipse 270 looks to fold out from both ends, resulting in the folded awning being shorter when it is back in it’s storage bag.
Having already travelled around the country ourselves carrying too much gear, we’re currently in the process of upgrading our 80 Series Landcruiser (#Project80) so that it can be self sufficient without needing to tow a trailer.
This means living out of the vehicle and a 270° awning could definitely be part of the plan, especially if it’s quick to setup and pack up and not too heavy.
Hi Steve,
We are doing the Gibbriver road in May any tips on where the best places to stay and camp are?
Cheers
Jess
Hi Steve,
I also have an 80 series set up for touring. My wife and I love touring in it. Thanks for putting up your Ebay link, great idea, I like the look of the Darche 270 awning. Love the Big lap series too. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure.
Agree – The awning looks great, though at $895 ($995 after intro promo sale is over) the price does feel a bit steep… Time will tell if its a price point the market will tolerate.
Following the blog with interest!
I’m looking forward to seeing one up close.
