Ron & Viv Moon guide books discontinued

If you’ve planned a road trip to the Kimberley or Cape York any time in the past 25+ years there’s a pretty good chance that you used one of Ron & Viv Moon’s Guide books to help you get there.

When Jen and I tackled the Kimberley for the first time in the mid 1990’s we bought ‘The Kimberley – An Adventurers Guide (2nd Edition)’ before we left and read it cover to cover to make sure we’d get to see and do as much as we could in the 10 days we had up our sleeve.

My original 1992 edition alongside the most recent edition

So I was more than a little sad last week to find out that Ron & Viv Moon’s Kimberley Guide Book and their Cape York Guide book have been discontinued.

We’ve been selling Ron & Viv Moon’s Guide books in a our store for quite a while now and they are definitely some of our best sellers because they are so good.

After a lifetime of serving the Aussie 4WD community, Ron & Viv have entrusted Hema with their Guidebooks business by selling it to them last year.

It’s a good strategy. Hema is here for the long haul and is a heavy hitter when it comes to publishing high quality maps and info about the places we’d all rather be.

So who better to hand over their guidebooks business to.

So what now?

Well the good news is that Hema also have great guidebooks covering the Kimberley and Cape York – Their Kimberley Atlas & Guide and Cape York Atlas & Guide are brilliant books packed full of info and include all the maps you’ll need as well.

The even better news is that according to the guys at Hema, Ron is working with them to write the next edition of these already great books so all of that knowledge that Ron and Viv have will be transferred into the Hema books.

I’d like to say a massive thank you to Ron & Viv Moon for your tireless work over the years for Aussie road trippers like us. You’ve always been, and continue to be, a great inspiration.
